468. Fill the bed with rose petals
My Story
Updated August 1, 2009
Commercial roses make me really sad – they’ve been bred for beauty and longevity at the expense of their glorious scent. Buy a dozen roses at a florist and you’re lucky if they smell like roses at all…but you can be sure they’ll look lovely in a vase for 2 weeks or more. What’s the point of that, really?
When I say I want to fill my bed with rose petals, I mean real rose petals. Soft, silky petals that actually smell like roses. You can still find these – they’re usually growing in the gardens of people with particularly green thumbs, on bushes full of thorns.
