280. Visit the Biosphere in Arizona
My Story
Updated October 24, 2010
The building of Biosphere 2 happened while I was in high school and had a keen interest in environmental science. The experiment continued into my college years where I majored in Environmental Studies, first with an aim to be a wildlife scientist living in the wild, then aiming to work as a city planner helping to build greener cities. I was fascinated by the project and the possibilities it held.
Biosphere2 is no longer maintained in its original sealed off state, and in fact, came close to being bulldozed in order to build a housing development, but seems to have been rescued for now by the University of Arizona. Regular tours are available for only $20.
