225. Learn how other cultures give birth

My Story

Updated November 18, 2009

I’ve combined this with #1: Write a non-fiction book that people will actually want to read. I’ve started doing the research.

One of the reasons I want to be a writer is to explore the universality of the human experience. While it’s interesting to study different cultures and note the differences, I think what’s more fascinating is to study the similarities. When you can find the things that are the same from people to people and place to place, I think that you’re identifying what it means to be human rather than what it means to be a part of a culture.

And what could be more universal than birth? We’re all born.
