To Do
495. See the woods of Vermont in early October
My Story
Updated November 6, 2009
As weird as it seems for a girl who grew up on the East Coast, I’ve never even been to Vermont, let alone going in the fall to see the beautiful leaves. I guess Vermont has quite a reputation for beautiful fall foliage, and it’s probably true if they have a lot of maples, which tend to turn brilliant shades of red and orange in the fall. I always liked the birch trees that turned a soft yellow too – not like the boring oaks that just turned brown.
I guess when you grow up around lots of woods and trees you take the fall for granted. We did pay for a historic train trip through a particularly beautiful part of Pennsylvania once during the fall to admire the leaves. But I really do want to visit Vermont.
