To Do
484. Spend a night in a lighthouse
My Story
Updated February 11, 2009
I think that most of us have a romantic notion about a lighthouse – it seems like a pretty appealing life to me, to be out there alone, reading, writing, knitting, and cooking – and to just have the responsibility of saving ships from wrecking themselves on the rocks by shining a beacon of light. Sure, it might be cold and damp, but you’d have a fire and plenty of warm clothes and blankets.
According to Unusual Hotels of the World, there are six lighthouses available to sleep in – 3 in North America and 3 in Europe. I guess I’ll have to look them over and narrow it down.
