431. Deliver a home-cooked meal to a sick friend
Completed January 2005
I’m counting this as completed even though the lucky friend wasn’t ‘sick’. She needed some help with the home-cooking because she’d just had her first baby and as a vegetarian, it was hard to rely on a lot of fast food or convenience food.
So, Tangerine (a mutual friend) and I headed to Whole Foods for ingredients. We made collard greens sauteed with garlic, garlic mashed potatoes, a delicious stir fry of tofu and onions, banana bread, and chocolate chip cookies. We packed it all up in catering containers, and drove it across town to be delivered.
You’ll be happy to hear that the feast fed the happy family for a few days. I can’t say as our hours in the kitchen were really work, because we had so much fun chitchatting, chopping and stirring, but it was definitely time well-spent.
