266. Work at a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving
Updated June 1, 2009
There have been times in my life when I’ve been very poor – not ever to the point that I couldn’t feed myself. Even if I couldn’t necessarily afford a lot of food or luxury food items, I’ve always been able to scrounge up something for dinner.
I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to be unable to afford basic groceries. To have to decide between paying utilities and rent or buy groceries. And the difficulty is surely made even worse during holiday times, when it’s traditional to feast on plenty of rich and tasty foods.
So I’d like to serve Thanksgiving dinner to those who can’t afford to provide it for themselves. I’d like to prepare and serve wholesome, hearty, delicious dishes and serve them up with dignity and pride and plenty of thanks.
