532. Stop a mall from being built
Updated January 1, 2010
I love shopping as much as the next girl, but as a small business owner myself, I much prefer supporting small businesses to supporting large national chains and big box stores. In the end, my shopping trip is a lot better when I find a boutique owner whose taste I trust and admire. I find beautiful pieces that make my heart sing and I don’t have to sort through a pile of cheap junk to find it.
The problem is that, like any other small business owner, I’m pressed for time. I’m busy and it’s hard to beat the convenience of being able to pull into a gigantic free parking lot and find just the thing I need (and 20 other things that I don’t).
I guess that in my opinion, though, there are more than enough shopping malls and shopping centers around already. And if we need more places to shop, maybe we could build a small row of shoppes and rent then out at reasonable rates to local entrepreneurs who have always dreamed of opening a small funky shop filled with goodies chosen to their own taste and preferences.
